Hakuoki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ Dawn of the Shinsengumi is set in 1863, a time of turmoil in Japan as political tensions escalate into violent conflicts. The Tokugawa Shogunate sends the Roshigumi, a group of masterless samurai, to support the Aizu forces in Kyoto. The Roshigumi is divided into two factions, with Serizawa Kamo leading the more influential group and Isami Kondo, a more honorable leader, at the helm of the other. Ryunosuke Ibuki, forced into a precarious situation due to a blood debt, witnesses the lives of the samurai and begins to see a chance for redemption and a better future for Japan if Kondo takes control.
