Following Leader X's apparent destruction, a surviving fragment of him grew into a new entity, Z. Count Egobossler, the head of the Egobossler family, allied with Z and his subordinates Mechandol and Kempler to destroy the Earth. The Science Ninja Team now operates from the ISO's underwater base in Gallatown, following Anderson's death and Dr. Nambu's promotion to head of the ISO. The team receives a new mecha, the Gatchaspartan, and Ken wields the Gatchafencer sword, which enables him to use the Hypershoot mode.
