Gorou, a first-year high school student at a private Tokyo school, has a lackluster life with no clear goals or aspirations. His days blend together, with time spent with best friend Akitsu and a secret crush on classmate Honoka. When Gorou receives a mysterious smartphone notification, he dismisses it as spam, but soon finds himself in a series of bizarre situations, including a compromising encounter with Honoka. The events lead to a revelation: Gorou was chosen by the "Great Will" to have his wish fulfilled, with the catch that he must compete against other Kamisama (God) candidates in a deadly battle for the title of "God" – and Honoka is one of his first opponents.
