The Earth Federation Government was formed to protect humanity's colonies and maintain order in the solar system. However, its influence led to growing resentment among colonists, straining relations between the central government and the colonies. As this tension built, a non-human alien threat emerged in the form of the Deathcula, who launched a surprise attack on the colonies. This led to the development of the Bismarck, a transformable starship designed to counter the Deathcula's superior technology.
