Tomoe Shiro, a skilled auto racing driver, suffered a near-fatal accident, forcing him to undergo an experimental procedure to replace his heart with the engine of his own racing car. As a result, he's no longer considered a qualified pilot, instead relegated to being a mechanical part of the vehicle. Shiro joins a group of other pilots, also disqualified from regular competitions, on a remote colonial planet where they're allowed to participate in a high-stakes rally. This unlikely group of drivers competes for their pride and a lucrative prize.
