Yuusaku Fujiki, a high school student, discovers an artificial intelligence program while dueling in Link Vrains, a virtual reality network. Dubbed Playmaker, he partners with Shouichi Kusanagi to uncover the truth behind a past incident. Their investigation leads them into a conflict with the Knights of Hanoi and SOL Technologies, who were involved in a failed attempt to destroy the Cyberse AI years earlier.
